The event is a partnership between Kirklees Council, Third Sector Leaders Kirklees, Social Enterprise Yorkhire and Humber, Huddersfield University, and existing local social enterprises, LS2Y and Ashbrow Partnering Together.
A social enterprise is any organisation, including charities, that is trading or wants to trade and earn profit for community benefit. It is defined by Social Enterprise Yorkshire and Humber as:
a. having a clear social or environmental mission which is set out in its governing documents,
b. an independent business which earns income through trading,
c. controlled or owned in the interests of the social mission,
d. either reinvesting or giving away its profits or surpluses to further its social purpose,
e. and transparent about how it operates and the impact it has.
TSL Kirklees is a local charity & membership group that supports, champions & develops the third sector in Kirklees. One of the services we offer is free training, networking & events for voluntary & community groups, charities & social enterprises in Kirklees.
Attendees need to be represent a social enterprise or other third sector organisation that trades and makes a profit for community use. They need to live or work in Kirklees.
